Gu Hye Sun's first novel is a hit! Published on April 1, the book entitled Tango (탱고) sold more than 30,000 copies in the first week of its release. The book is about a girl in her twenties maturing into a woman by experiencing love and heartache. Although fictional, the book is based on Gu's own memories of her own bittersweet first love. The book was inspired when she was listening to Ryuichi Sakamoto's song "Tango" hence the title. Some might even call it an illustrated novel because the book comes with around 40 of Gu Hye Sun's own illustrations.Gu Hye Sun penned the story when she was filming the drama Boys Before Flowers. The manuscript was almost lost when she was involved in a car accident on her way back from a location shoot one day. When recovering at the hospital, Gu told reporters that she was more worried about the contents of her laptop destroyed in the crash rather than her own injuries. The versatile Gu Hye Sun (25) also wrote and directed the short film The Cheerful Caretaker which has been accepted into the fiction category of the Busan Asian Short Film Festival (BASFF). The film is 14 minutes long.credit: kpopped
